Do I need to "kill" the app by swiping up

NO.  MyRideTrac is designed to be very stable and run in the background.  While the app is running in the background it is doing the following things:
1. Tracking your miles (RIDER/NORIDER/PERSONAL).  If you want to stop logging hit the STOP button.
2. Backing up your data.  The app needs to be running to back up your data.  If you kill it, it can't back up.

MyRideTrac is also monitoring your memory.  The operating system kills apps that are in the background when it nears being full.  MyRideTrac will warn you when memory is near full so that you can choose what apps you want to kill.   We are for you being in control.
